🏀 March Madness Submission
The Kaggle March Machine Learning Mania 2022 competition was a blast as usual. Our submission finished in the Top 25% which is respectable but not as good as it could be have been. Here is where the submission made and missed the mark.
Successfully predicted:
(15) Saint Peter’s over (3) Purdue
(12) Richmond over (5) Iowa
(11) Notre Dame over (6) Alabama
(11) Michigan over (6) Colorado State and over (3) Tennessee
(11) Iowa State over (6) LSU and over (3) Wisconsin
Wrong:
(5) UConn over (12) New Mexico State
(9) TCU over (1) Arizona - this was a close game and had a controversial ending
(11) Virginia Tech over (6) Texas
(5) Houston over (2) Villanova
Much of this competition comes down to luck. For example, a prior version of the submission had New Mexico State upsetting UConn, which would have vaulted the submission into the Top 8%. Any one of those wrong picks going right would have made a significant difference. There’s always next year!
