🏀 March Madness
A little fun this week. The field for the 2022 college basketball tournament will be set soon (Sunday March 13). The Kaggle competition is also now open. Check out this initial model run using a projected bracket as of March 1.
This is a point in time, with a projected bracket, so the main takeaway is seeing the teams that could exceed expectations. This graph is meant to be read across row-wise, the darker the color, the higher the win probability for the row-labeled team against the column-labeled team.
Reading the graph, the teams predicted to exceed expectations are:
Purple: (5) Houston, (6) LSU, (10) San Francisco
Blue: (11) Wake Forest
Green: (7) Iowa, (11) Memphis
Orange: (5) Texas, (7) Iowa State, (9) TCU
We’ll share our submission to the Kaggle competition once it’s ready!
